| Refurbishing the Headquarters | |
Many scouts, parents, leaders and helpers have given many hours of their time over the past few months to completely refurbish the Group's headquarters building. |
The work includes damp proofing, installing a kitchen, central heating, replacement windows, new washing facilities, and finally a complete redecoration.
A grant from the Pennine Townships was one of the prime factors in enabling this work to be done. Support was also provided by the Rochdale B&Q Superstore, Whipp and Bourne and the fundraising efforts of parents, scout leaders and friends. |
On the first of May the Headquarters was reopened by the Deputy Mayor of Rochdale Cllr. Angela Coric. Friends and former leaders going back to the 1950s came to join in the open day along with the Littleborough and Wardle local councillors. |

The present leaders and scouts put on activities for the open day that included, for the Beavers a craft activity and map and compass work, for the Cubs tin can cooking and a demonstration of lashings by the Explorer Scouts. The youngest section, the Beavers, had also built a model campsite. Members from the different sections shared the experience.
