Beaver Newsletter 2006/7

Hello to all at the 29th, past and present. I thought it might be appropriate to put a letter together to sum up my feelings about the group in general and this brand spanking new web site in particular. As a group, I think that those who started the 29thA all those years ago and all of those who have been part of this group since, will all agree that together we’ve put something good into the world. When I first appeared on the scene in March 1974, there were people like Jeff Shepherd who gave us our headquarters, Rod Collinge the perpetual Akela who to this day is still Group Treasurer and Ray Woodhead. All of these people and many more, have put into the 29thA to the point that we are now once more a thriving independent Scout Group, with all sections full, in fact the troop is “over-full”, how many can say that?!

This new web site is the next stage, a contact point for all old as well as current members and friends (“less of the old” I can hear a few shouting!). I think as a group, we should thank Rob (Mitchell) for his perseverance and hard work in putting this web site together. Fantastic, thanks Rob!

Finally, the newsletter will only work if we can put items into it. Letters, reports on events or camps, photos etc. If you’re reading this as an ex-member, why not let us and your old mates from the 29th know how you are and what you’re doing…… do you have any photos or stories from the old days? You never know, it could lead to a reunion.

Anyway, it’s onwards and upwards.

All the best to all the 29thers !

Terry Rich (GSL 29thA)
